Planting a More Resilient Cotton Sector in Burkina Faso

The effects of climate change are undermining cotton farmers’ livelihoods in Burkina Faso—where 80 percent of the population depend on agriculture to earn a living. A project being implemented by IFC and the World Bank in partnership with cotton processor SOFITEX aims to change that. The strategy seeks to stabilize and ultimately increase cotton yields, strengthening food security and boosting farmers’ incomes. Video by Stephan Bachenheimer.
