About the Project
The goal of the Rural Livelihoods Development Project (RLDP) is to improve food and nutrition security and to increase agriculture production and resilience to shocks and climate risks.
The recurrence of multiple shocks to Yemen’s rural sector and its food systems has increased the need and the urgency for activities that protect and support people’s livelihoods, where rural people are forced to find ever more desperate means to cope with food, water and nutrition insecurity. Under this complex context, exacerbated by adverse impacts of climate change, there is clear need to scale up activities that aimed to support recovery from COVID and to enhance resilience, such as nutrition and livelihood development interventions. The truce provided an opportunity for some recovery through agriculture, but this period also demonstrated the high vulnerability of food systems to global conditions and the importance of strengthening self-reliance and resilience to global price and supply shocks. The project will consist of three main components: community mobilization and strengthening; climate-resilient infrastructure and protection of agriculture livelihoods.
