Sixth Call for Proposals 2021
The Sixth Call for Proposals for Country and Producer Organization-led projects in the context of the ongoing COVID-19 global pandemic closed on September 8, 2021. GAFSP funding aims to support medium- to long-term COVID-19 response efforts for a more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient recovery of agriculture and food systems in a changing climate.
GAFSP received complete applications from 40 eligible countries and 42 Producer Organizations. The amount requested totaled US$888.66 million and US$116.24 million, respectively.

Country-led modality aims to fund projects that support country governments to address priority public sector investments in line with country-owned agricultural investment plans.

GAFSP encouraged proposals aiming to reduce risk and vulnerability and increase the impact of agricultural interventions through an emphasis on cross-cutting themes.

This funding will support countries and smallholder farmers and their families in their medium- to long-term COVID-19 response efforts for more sustainable food systems in a changing climate.

Bangladesh (US$12 million; IFAD & FAO), Bhutan (US$12 million; IFAD & WFP), Kyrgyz Republic (US$5 million; World Bank & FAO), Lao People’s Democratic Republic (US$17 million; IFAD & WFP), Nepal (US$12 million; ADB & WFP), Senegal (US$20 million; AfDB), South Sudan (US$20 million; IFAD), and a multi-country project in the Solomon Islands and Vanuatu (US$15 million; IFAD & FAO).
The Steering Committee also tentatively approved four projects, totaling $71 million, in Cambodia (US$20 million; World Bank), Honduras (US$18 million; IFAD), Mauritania (US$17 million, AfDB), and Somalia (US$16 million; IFAD) contingent on additional donor contributions to the fund by December 31, 2022.
